August Favourites

Hello Chaps!

I enjoyed quite a lot of things in August (and probably most of July too). They're all fairly recent purchases, I've acquired a buttload of stuff in the past few months so it wasn't an easy job picking out just these few! Sorry it's a bit late!

Hair

John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo & Conditioner
I'd been eyeing up the John Frieda Full Repair range for a while and finally decided to jump in and give it a whirl. I took advantage of various 2 for £7 or 3 for £10 offers in Boots and Sainsbury's when I saw the opportunity, and I actually amassed most of the items from the range, but particularly wanted to concentrate on these. I've been impressed with the whole range so far, but the first time I used these the difference in the softness of my locks was very noticeable, and I got quite excited. I know a lot of products are at their best the first time you ever use them, and although I didn't get the same feeling of huge improvement with subsequent washes, it still makes my hair feel like it's being given a little tlc, bringing it back from the dead a little. Plus, it smells fabuloso!

Boots Expert Build Up Removal Shampoo
I'd been trying to hunt this down for ages with no success, I was beginning to think I was going mad, until I eventually found it in a branch of Boots a few towns over from me. I've previously been using TreSemme's Deep Cleansing Shampoo but wanted to give this a go to see how it compared.

Avon Advanced Techniques Daily Results Dry Ends Serum
I saw that this was on offer in an Avon email a while back and remembered Mushine's post raving about how much she loved it. If you follow my link it will take you to her brilliant review. I got a couple of bottles because it was so cheap at the time and I wasn't disappointed. It doesn't weigh my hair down or feel sticky at all. I really like it, but I don't think it's HG material for me. My hair is in such an awful condition lately that not a lot seems to have an effect on it. Saying that, I will continue to use this regularly!

Bath & Body

Dirty Works Sole Sister Foot Scrub
This is lovely and refreshing, with grains of real pumice to really slough off dead skin. I much prefer the body care from the Dirty Works range, everything is really reasonable and even more so if you manage to catch it on offer in Sainsbury's!

Dirty Works Best Foot Forward Foot Butter
This works well as the other half of the foot care duo! I keep this beside my bed and love to slather it on last thing at night, especially with pedicure socks, to give me soft tootsies by morning. It smells lovely and coconutty.

I love... Coconut & Cream Bubble Bath & Shower Creme
More coconut! This doesn't actually smell all that strongly of coconut, it reminds me of cupcake frosting. It is my new Holy Grail of bubble bath! It works well as a shower cream as well, leaving you smelling doubly delish!

Boots Hot Weather Cooling Spray

Somehow I can't see myself using this all that much any more this year, but it has been a godsend for those moments when I'm just roasting. It really takes the discomfort out of unbearable heat - most of it was used up at a family barbecue, by my nearest and dearest! I like to use it when I arrive at my office after a 45 minute walk up a hill, but the best and most satisfying use has to be when lying in bed on a stuffy, humid night, and spraying it into the air above so that it falls down like a light misty rain... pure bliss, and the only way me and Mr BNH could get comfortable enough to sleep on some occasions!

Skincare

Olay Beauty Fluid Nourishing Day Fluid
This is the first time I've used Olay, apart from their touch of foundation. This has been a lovely, light moisturiser for sticky summer days. It's also been a good make-up base, and I like that it's oil free. I will continue to use it until the cold weather leaves my skin demanding something a bit richer.

LUSH Cosmetic Warrior Fresh Face Mask
I won't say too much about this lovely little stinky pot, as I have a review coming up soon! But I will say that my skin loved it :)

Make Up

Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint in 02 Beige
I wasn't sure about this stuff at first - I had a few samples. The more I used it the more I - and my skin - loved it. It's a great summer tinted moisturiser - it has SPF15 as you would expect, but crucially for me, the coverage is fairly decent, and buildable. The scent is a little unusual, almost herby.

Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine
I love this, so much. I bought it from my local Waitrose, and I'm so pleased I picked it up. It doesn't really leave any colour, but it feels so luxurious and is a pleasure to use! It makes my lips feel really soft, which is the important stuff, but it's the perfect consistency - doesn't make my lips sticky or wet.

e.l.f. High Definition Powder - Translucent
I've been using the lightest dusting of this to set my T-zone, and when used sparingly, it looks like I've been airbrushed! I bought this when e.l.f. were doing a famous but rare 50% off sale, so it only cost me about £3 something! It's worth signing up to their emails as they always have an offer of ome sort running.

Natural Collection Eyeshadow in Barley
I haven't used any make up by Natural Collection for over a decade, when the packaging was black and the lip colour du jour was a heavily frosted lilac pink! I swatched this shadow when I wanted to pick up a single gold colour for everyday but not spend a lot, and was pleasantly surprised. The colour payoff is fairly decent if subtle for a budget shadow, and if used with a good quality brush. I've been using this almost every day and have since picked up another shadow in the shade Willow, which is a lovely shimmery cool nude.

Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick in Pink Mallow
Again, after a browse, I was blown away by the formula and shade of this lippie. For £1.99 it is very pigmented, moisturising and lasts a while. I was so impressed I went and bought a few other shades as well as a spare for my handbag!

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in 3 Medium
Yes, it's the budget hero concealer! I have this in shade 2 Light as well, for the winter months. It truly is fab and a must for everyday use on a budget, the coverage is perfect for all sorts of imperfections. For me, it definitely lives up to the hype.

Collection 2000 Skyscraper Waterproof Mascara
I was lucky enough to find this in Savers for just £1.49, I wanted a waterproof mascara for the days I went swimming, so that I could leave a bit of it on once I'd taken my face off but I wouldn't get panda eyes. It does the job pretty well, but it can sting when it gets super wet - when I swim I don't duck my head under, but my eyes can stream when I'm in the shower (I take eye-make up removing pads with me!).

Primark Beauty Nail Polish (blue colour from a set of four pastels)
I'm in love with this colour! After pinks, blue is the colour I wear most on my nails. I know a lot of people avoid wearing blue shades, and I'm not really a huge blue fan, but somehow I still own a lot of blue shades. This one however, I've worn a few times since I picked it up in a 4-pack for just £2. I got a bit messy with the bottle :P
I keep looking in Primark to see if any of these sets are left hiding anywhere but with no luck. I got the pack a few months ago but didn't try it for ages, which was stupid because the bottles are quite small and I want a back-up! I'll have to work on finding a dupe, I have a feeling I could get lucky at the Essie stand - any suggestions are welcome! Here's a reprise pic of me wearing it as seen in my Bank Holiday post:

Fun fact: this picture of Cleo looks twice as amusing when you turn your head upside down.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my first, albeit belated, favourites post!

Sticky Kisses!
